How to Use Mojiokoshi-san

1. Upload

Drag and drop or select the file you want to transcribe.

For drag and drop, you can place the file anywhere on the screen.

This prepares the file for upload. A preview will appear, allowing you to confirm the file.

The following file types are supported:

【Image Files】
File size: Less than 10MB
Supported formats: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .webp
*If text is sideways or upside down, transcription may not be possible. Please correct the orientation.
【Document Files】
File size: Less than 50MB
Supported format: .pdf
【Audio Files】
File size: Less than 1GB

・Basic Plan: Within 90 minutes
・Value Plan: Within 3 hours
・Premium Plan: Within 5 hours

【Video Files】
File size: Less than 1GB

*Multiple file uploads are not supported. Please upload one file at a time.

Uploading files that exceed the supported formats or durations will result in an upload error that does not complete.

You can enable uploads by reducing the file size, converting the file, or splitting the file.

Example: Convert an M4A file (video) to an MP3 file (audio only)

Example: Split a 3-hour MP3 file into three 1-hour files.
*When splitting by time, splitting at 90 minutes can lead to longer transcription times or larger file sizes. It is recommended to split into approximately 1-hour segments if possible.

2. Language Selection

Select the language you want to transcribe from the dropdown menu, then click the "Transcribe" button at the bottom of the screen.
*Audio with multiple languages mixed in cannot be accurately transcribed.

3. Start Transcription

Once settings and file selection are complete, click "Transcribe".

Clicking the upload button simultaneously initiates file upload and transcription.

For images: Transcription is completed in a few seconds to a few minutes after starting.

For audio/video: A 1-hour data file takes approximately 5 minutes.
Example: 60 minutes of audio data -> approximately 5 minutes needed for transcription

【Caution】

Transcription processing begins immediately when you press the transcribe button. Please confirm that the file is correct before pressing the upload button.

Transcription time will be consumed even if you process the same file multiple times or upload an incorrect file. Cancellation during processing is not possible.

The transcribed text is displayed in blocks. You can edit the text content on the spot, and save it as a text file or subtitle file.

*Regarding subtitle file specifications
Even if you edit the content on Mojiokoshi-san's web page, the edited content will not be reflected in the subtitle file.

If you want to edit the subtitle content, please download the subtitle file and edit it directly using a text editor application.

You can check your transcribed items from your history (for free and paid members only).

For audio files, even if the file is within 90 minutes, uploads may fail or transcription may get stuck in a processing state.

In such cases, please check the error status on the page below and try the suggested solutions.

Troubleshooting when an error occurs and transcription is not possible

Audio Files That AI Transcription Struggles With

For the following types of audio files, you may not get the desired results even if you transcribe them with Mojiokoshi-san.

Audio that is too quiet or difficult to hear due to a distant microphone
Audio where severe noise drowns out the speech
Audio where indoor reverberation blurs the sound
Audio containing music, such as song lyrics
Audio with no speech
Audio with strong dialects
Audio where human listeners find it hard to distinguish voices

To achieve highly accurate transcription with AI (speech recognition engine), proper recording techniques are essential.

For audio files that AI transcription struggles with, it is often more reliable to request human transcription.

Since AI is very affordable, it might be a good idea to try AI first, with the mindset of "it's okay if it doesn't work, but lucky if it does," before resorting to human transcription.

Non-members and free members can use it for free, and if you register for a free membership, your daily free usage allowance increases.
*For free usage, only the first 3 minutes of transcription are available.

With the Premium Plan, a paid option, you can transcribe audio data for approximately 0.4 yen per minute. This is about 25 yen per hour.

An annual plan offers an additional 20% off! It's a very good deal.

Column: Long Transcriptions Can Be Costly

For Mojiokoshi-san, if you want to transcribe more than the initial 1 minute, you need to purchase a paid plan.

While there are many AI transcription services, unfortunately, there are no web services that offer completely free transcription for long durations.

Among these, Mojiokoshi-san is quite affordable compared to other services.

Mojiokoshi-san can transcribe for approximately 0.4 yen per minute or more.

Other services typically cost around 30 to 40 yen per minute.

If you request a human transcription service, it becomes even more expensive, with a market rate of around 200 to 800 yen.
